In El Presidente, the film Tikoy Aguiluz is shooting now with Jeorge Estregan (or ER Ejercito, governor of Laguna), Nora Aunor, who planed in last week from Los Angeles, is playing the little known Maria Agoncillo, second wife of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo.
The role, we were told, was offered first to Batangas governor Vilma Santos who said she couldn’t do it with her very busy schedule.
Nora, who was scheduled to come home to visit her younger brother Buboy, had to postpone her trip and faced criticism once more for failing to fulfill her promise to her fans.
She told the movie press last Saturday at the Club Filipino where a press conference was held for the movie that it was German Moreno and Suzette Ranillo who insisted that she postpone her trip until they got word about a mini-series that TV5 wanted her to do. Moreno also told her that he accepted the offer of ER Ejercito for her to do the role that he first offered to Santos.
In reaction to intrigues hurled at her by quarters not kind to the superstar, Aunor said, “Hindi naman po importante kung first or second choice po ako. And mas importante ay kung makakatulong po ako sa paggawa ng isang makabuluhang pelikula (It’s not important if I were first or second choice. What is more important is if I could be of help in the making of a quality and sensible movie.)
Nora has given the film her priority since she isn’t staying here for long. She also has to do the mini-series for TV5 that will eat up three days of her schedule. But she is scheduling it after her more or less 10-day shoot for El Presidente.
This early, producers are taking interest on Aunor. Regal Films has offered her a part in Hototay, a film scheduled to be shown in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. There is also a company that expressed interest in taking her in as an endorser.
But Aunor says it’s all up to Moreno. “Si Kuya Germs na ang bahala sa kanila kasi sa ngayon wala po akong alam sa mga nangyayari dito.” Moreno acts as Aunor’s manager now.
The superstar had said “sorry” to everyone whom she thought she had offended in the past. “I will make it up to all of you from hereon. And you will see the change in me as a person and as a professional.”
This threat Moreno said he would make sure that Aunor would fulfill while she is in the country.
