NORA AUNOR: THE UNSURPASSED METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL QUEEN

NORA AUNOR collected her historic eighth Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Best Actress trophy during the awards ceremonies held at the Meralco Theater in Pasig City last December 27 for her role as a Badjao midwife in the movie Thy Womb.

“Bilang artista, kahit kakaunti na lamang ang manunuod sa pelikula ko, eh, patuloy pa rin akong gagawa ng makabuluhang pelikula . . ." Ms. Aunor said when she accepted her award.

The win last night made Ms. Aunor the most honored actress in the MMFF with eight Best Actress Trophies.

She first won as Best Performer in the 1978 MMFF for the movie Atsay. Ms. Aunor is the only Best Performer awardee of the MMFF. The award is equivalent to Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor awards.

She later won the festival’s Best Actress awards in 1979 (for Ina Ka ng Anak Mo), 1982 (for Himala), 1984 (for Bulaklak sa City Jail), 1990 (for Andrea, Paano Maging Isang Ina), 1991 (for Ang Totoong Buhay ni Pacita M.) and in 1995 (for Muling Umawit ang Puso).

  6. My mother requested me that when she dies to include all her collected albums and pictures of our beloved Nora Aunor inside her coffin. That is to show that my mother loved Nora Aunor so much.
